Crumplehorn Cottages are featured in Judy Finnigan’s novel ‘I do not sleep’ which is set in the resort of Polperro. A beautiful, poignant read. Crumplehorn Cottages were also owned in the late 1700’s by Polperro’s famous smuggler, banker, Zephaniah Job (Pronounced Jobe). He opened his own bank in Polperro, offering loans to smugglers, printing his own bank notes, and he provided legal and financial assistance to smugglers who were imprisoned! His legacy continues to be explored through books, podcasts, and museum exhibits.
For babies or toddlers, we can supply a free Travel cot and highchair upon request.
We accept one well behaved dog to stay at Crumplehorn Cottage No2, by arrangement.
A welcoming resort for over a hundred years - My great grandparents who lived on Talland Hill would welcome guests to stay in their family home for Bed and Board back in the 1800’s. Most were artists, who would book to lodge with them to come and capture on canvas the colours and way of life in the village. My Great Granfer Curtis had the fishing lugger, Lady Beatrice, fishing out of Polperro, my Great Gran looked after the guests and raised their 4 children.
